Advisory committee created; members, duties – N.M. Stat. Ann. §24-29-3

The state of New Mexico has passed a Hospital Acquired Infection Act, which calls for the creation of a hospital acquired infection advisory committee within the Department of Health.  The duties of the committee include the following:

  1. Establish criteria and policies for the reporting of hospital acquired infections;
  2. Work with hospitals for surveillance of hospital acquired infections;
  3. Develop objectives and standards for a statewide program of surveillance of hospital acquired infections;
  4. Identify infections that must be reported;
  5. Make recommendations for training and education of prevention of hospital acquired infections;
  6. Develop and disseminate reports on hospital acquired infections;
