b.) Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)88

PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is an alternative to institutional care for persons age 55 and older who require a nursing facility level of care. Determinations of eligibility for PACE must be made and annually re-evaluated89 on the basis of health status and indicators such as medical diagnosis and measures of activities of daily living.90  Under a PACE agreement, a provider must:91

  • Collect data;
  • Provide access to the Secretary and the states to the records relating to the program; and
  • Submit reports on the operation, cost and effectiveness of the program.
