HHS proposes changes to 42 CFR Part 2

On February 5, 2016, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposed revisions to the Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records Regulations (42 CFR Part 2). Revisions will address privacy concerns of patients while also facilitating the exchange of health information within the health care system. 42 CFR Part 2 was last updated in 1987.
